With the deaths of Rep.  Lewis and the Rev. Cordy Tindell Vivian, the US lost two civil rights icons who spent their lives fighting for racial equality. And for Georgia, the 5th Congressional District that Lewis served for decades is left without a representative. The state's Democratic leaders will meet Monday to consider a nominee for his vacant House seat. On Monday, tens of thousands of workers in more than 25 cities are expected to participate in a Strike for Black Lives. They will walk off the job for roughly eight minutes, the same amount of time prosecutors say a Minneapolis police officer held his knee on George Floyd's neck before he died in May. Marches are also planned around the strike.  The mask rules are coming: Monday, Walmart will become the largest US retailer to require customers to wear masks. CVS' mask mandate also goes into effect at the beginning of the week, and Kroger will follow suit on Wednesday. Target's mask rule will start on August 1. Shop safely, folks.  Monday also marks the return of the House and Senate after a two-week recess. They have a lot on their plate in the next few weeks, including negotiations about another major coronavirus relief package.  Cities are getting serious about their problematic statues. On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Art Commission will hold a virtual meeting to discuss plans to remove the city's Christopher Columbus statue, which has been the site of recent protests. A new hearing will take place  Thursday in Virginia concerning the future of the Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue in Richmond. Baseball is back! Sure, Opening Day came a little later this year, but teams will kick off the shortened season Thursday.  And, because you can never have too much of a good thing, the WNBA season begins on Saturday.  Taking on white supremacy The multiple Emmy Award-winning CNN Original Series, United Shades of America with W.
