In a segment on Tucker Carlson Tonight Thursday evening, Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson said described Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as “a pig” and “stupid,” and said Milley got his position as the highest-ranking and most senior military officer in the United States because “he knows who to suck up to and he’s more than happy to do it.”
The segment, on Gen. Milley’s testimony Wednesday before a House Armed Services Committee hearing to discuss the 2022 Defense Department budget. During that hearing, Rep. Matt Gaetz asked Milley about the teaching of critical race theory in the U.S. military. "I've read Mao Zedong. I've read Karl Marx. I've read Lenin. That doesn't make me a communist. So what is wrong with understanding—having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend?" Milley said.
Carlson, after airing part of Gen. Milley’s testimony, laughed and said “he’s not just a pig, he’s stupid.” Carlson said of Milley, who graduated from Princeton before joining the Army, where he served multiple combat tours, “he didn’t get that job because he’s brilliant or because he’s brave or because the people who know him respect him. He is not and they definitely don’t.”
