Larry Alfred Smart, 72 of Ocklawaha, passed away August 10, 2021. He was born November 7, 1948 in St. Albans, Vermont to Alfred and Irene (Scanlon) Smart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
Larry worked as a prison guard at the Maine State Prison now located in Warren, Maine where he retired in the late 80’s. He would eventually move back to his home state of Vermont and for many years worked at IBM until his retirement.
Many years ago Larry picked up crocheting and made blankets for others to enjoy. He loved to dance, his favorite music was disco and old time rock and roll. Over the last year, you would often find him on the porch enjoying great conversations and puzzles with a special friend, Ms. Coral.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather Pratt, Tori Smart, and Tara Lauze, all of Maine. He has two grandsons, Jesse Lauze and Demeron Lauze and his wife Ashley. He has a granddaughter, Raven Smart. He has a great grandson, Declan Lauze.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Irene (Scanlon) Smart.
