The letter by Warren Butterfield (Aug. 7, Anti-vaxxers risk giving up their lives for Trump) was interesting for a couple paragraphs, at least the part about emperors Hirohito and Hitler. However, the remainder of the letter is perplexing in the extreme.

Apparently the writer is suggesting that Donald Trump is asking people not to get the vaccines, and thereby sacrificing their lives for him. But this is preposterous. Is he not aware that Trump got the vaccine himself and encouraged others to get it?

Most importantly, is he not aware that it was through Trump’s Operation Warp Speed that three vaccines were developed by the end of 2020, with billions of dollars invested for the manufacture and distribution of the vaccines, which undoubtedly saved thousands of lives?

Critics had insisted the vaccines wouldn’t be developed for several years, if ever.

Mr. Butterfield concluded his letter by asking why people are “acting stupid” and said “We can manage the virus, but can’t cure stupid.”

I think the letter clearly begs the question as to who is really acting stupid.
