For Celtics guard Marcus Smart, the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs felt like a microcosm of everything good and bad that he brings to Boston.
There was his game three brilliance in the lone Celtics win of the series where Smart went 8-11 from the field and finished with 23 points. Over the final two games of the series, however, the former Oklahoma State star went 9-29 from the field and struggled mightily from distance.
While playing a significant offensive role given Jaylen Brown’s injury and Kemba Walker missing games four and five, Smart averaged over 36 minutes per game while putting up 17.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6 assists in the series.
YouTube videographer Tomasz Kordylewski put together the best of Smart’s playoff performances in the Boston 4-1 loss to Brooklyn:
Despite questionable shot selection in the final two games of the series, Smart did what he always does in bringing maximum effort and energy on both ends for the shorthanded Celtics.
