Alfredo Silva’s Caged Riders rode away with the grand prize on Monday’s finale of NBC‘s America’s Got Talent: Extreme, but some viewers were not happy with how the evening played out.
Much like the original America’s Got Talent format, the finale saw the finalists and Golden Buzzer recipients return to the show to see the winner be crowned. However, unlike the regular AGT, most finalists, including the Golden Buzzer acts, were not given a chance to perform. The only two acts to perform were Caged Riders and Wheelz, the two acts voted on by an unknown group of “superfans.”
Wheelchair athlete Wheelz was the first to perform but failed to land either of his death-defying stunts. Meanwhile, motorcycle stunt team Caged Riders pulled off a perfect performance that saw them crowned the winners of the first season of AGT: Extreme, bagging themselves a half-million dollars in the process.
However, fans at home weren’t on board with these new rules and made their voices heard on social media. “So in the “finale,” only two finalist acts actually get to perform? Everyone else is already voted off behind the scenes? That’s stupid, @AGT, real stupid,” tweeted one disgruntled viewer.
“America’s Got Talent essentially let a superdelegate process decide,” wrote CBS58 reporter Victor Jacobo. “So disappointed with the #AGTExtreme finale! They could’ve at least let the top 4 perform!” added another commenter.
WAIT. So in the “finale”, only two finalist acts actually get to perform? Everyone else is already voted off behind the scenes? That’s stupid, @AGT, real stupid. Suddenly not a fan of this 4 episode format for #AGTExtreme. Wanted to see ALL golden buzzers perform again.

The AGT spinoff series premiered on February 21 and ventured into the open air to present “outrageous, unique and jaw-dropping acts of enormous scale and magnitude.” Terry Crews hosted the series with Simon Cowell (also a creator and exec producer), WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, and action sports legend Travis Pastrana serving as judges.

What sense does it make having all those golden buzzers if they’re be on the stage for 2 minutes and then be voted off by a secret panel? #AGTExtreme pic.twitter.com/a7Qg2aI8jr

Regardless of who wins, this is one of the WORST @AGT finales ever, simply because having only TWO of the gold buzzer/finalist performers… actually perform a second time, is ridiculous. Voting off golden buzzers “behind the scenes” with no performance SUCKS. #AGTExtreme

Not a fan of this format #AGTExtreme

It seems like #AGTExtreme has really gone off the rails tonight. How can an act that never succeeds even be in contention anymore? Any other act that falls or messes up is eliminated right away. This is the final and the standards mean nothing. Such a rigged show. #NBC

they literally brought all those acts back just to have them walk out and not even perform??
they should’ve cut the audition rounds and add another round before the finale to make this more cohesive.
also, the golden buzzer is basically pointless??#AGTExtreme pic.twitter.com/pLVVhoZBdN
