Some stores stay open all day long on Thanksgiving Day, while others just open their doors at night. When that happens, Black Friday basically turns into Black Thursday and Friday.
According to a survey conducted by BestBlackFriday.com, 72% of consumers think stores should be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
And while many stores will be staying closed on Thanksgiving Day, there are quite a few that will open at some point during the day.
What stores are open on Thanksgiving Day 2019?
Here is a list of stores confirmed to be open on Thanksgiving and when they will open:

- Best Buy (opens at 5 p.m.)
- Big Lots (opens at 7 a.m.)
- CVS (24-hour stores; other locations vary)
- Dollar Tree (8 a.m.; select stores)
- DSW (some locations open at 5 p.m.)
- Family Dollar
- Gamestop (opens at 3 p.m.)
- Gordmans (open from 3 p.m. until 1 a.m. – opens for Black Friday at 6 a.m.)
- JCPenney (opens at 2 p.m.)
- Kmart (opens at 6 a.m.)

- Most Macy’s stores (opens at 5 p.m.)

If you don’t want to go out shopping on Thanksgiving or Black Friday, plenty of retailers are offering online sales.
Everything from tech products to furniture to handbags and even artificial Christmas trees can be found on sale.
Are grocery stores open on Thanksgiving Day 2019?
Most supermarkets will be open on Thanksgiving Day to get in some last-minute food shopping. The following grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day 2019:
- Acme — 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (may vary at each location)
- Fairway — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Food4Less — 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.
- Kroger — 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- Ralphs — 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
- ShopRite — 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.
- Sprout’s Farmer’s Market — 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Stop & Shop — 6 am. to 12 a.m.
- The Fresh Market — 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Wegmans — 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. (pharmacy will be closed)
- Whole Foods — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
