“Santa Cruz gets built up we will want a train.” Santa Cruz gets built up, we’ll need shady, tree-lined greenspace, especially legitimate walk/bike transportation paths connecting neighborhoods.
“We lose the rails on the corridor they are gone forever.” False! Clear the trees, widen, shore up our greenspace with heat generating concrete, it is gone forever.
The corridor is basically a narrow, tree-lined trail with old decaying rails that would need to be replaced.
The corridor is not centrally located. If a train is viable, a track down Soquel or Highway 1 would be more viable, significantly increasing the target ridership population and usefulness.
Manu offers a new, smart vision for our future.

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 150 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
