Why Bears Would Be Smart to Target Ex-Bills Left Guard Quinton Spain - NBC Chicago

Why Bears should target ex-Bills left guard Quinton Spain originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Given the Bears' issues on the offensive line, and at left guard specifically, some recently-tweeted news from Adam Schefter should have Ryan Pace and co.'s full attention:

Spain's a six-year pro, originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Titans back in 2015. After going to Buffalo on a one-year deal in 2019, he signed a three-year, $15 million extension this offseason. Spain was benched in favor of Cody Ford in Week 3, however, and has missed the last two games with a foot injury – though that's not expected to be a longterm issue.

Spain tweeted the news, in a sense, this morning:

Spain makes a ton of sense for the Bears, who could desperately use some help bolstering their offensive line. Rashaad Coward had a rough time against the Panthers in his first start for James Daniels, who's out for the rest of 2020 with a pec injury. Spain's play has been inconsistent and he doesn't grade especially well as a run-blocker, but the guard hasn't allowed a sack in two years (according to PFF) and is still a clear upgrade to Coward or Alex Bars.  As the expression goes, beggars can't be choosers, and the Bears can use all the help they can get.
