Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit may soon be making significant cutbacks to their service. SMART is facing $6 million in budget cuts and says they’ll have to choose between not running trains on the weekends or canceling almost half of their weekday rides. Yesterday SMART’s executives told their board of directors that 40% of weekday rides would vanish if they went with the second option. They currently run 38 trains per weekday and 10 per weekend.
