While it seems there is still a very realistic chance the Boston Celtics land Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in a deal ahead of the 2021 NBA trade deadline on March 25, at least one analyst who has been breaking news about any such potential exchange between the two East teams suggests the odds of veteran guard Marcus Smart being part of the deal are shrinking.

The Action Network’s Matt Moore related on Twitter that he doesn’t “believe Marcus Smart winds up in a Gordon trade (IF it happens),” based on what he has heard about the deal in recent hours.

Moore was one of several insiders relaying news about trade negotiations between Boston and Orlando regarding a Gordon deal on Monday.

This does not mean the Celtics interest in such a trade has cooled however, with the Denver Post’s Mike Singer relaying that the Celtics remain “heavily engaged with the Magic” in pursuit of a deal for the former No. 4 pick.

Singer also shares Boston is competing with the Nuggets not only for a deal with Gordon, but also Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes.
