The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 255 calls for service between Saturday, Nov. 14 and Friday, Nov. 20. Below are selected, notable incidents.

At 7:40 a.m. Nov. 14, a man returned to his vacation home in Brinnon to find his boat had been moved and the motor stolen.

The man told police he’d found his boat parked on the side of the road with the outboard motor missing about six days earlier, but contacted them upon seeing what he believed to be his motor for sale in an online auction.

Detectives responded to Lakewood to meet with the prospective seller.

Several suspects have been identified as the likely thief, police said, and the motor was recovered.

The case remains under investigation.

At 9:58 p.m. Nov. 14, a 32-year-old Port Ludlow man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Port Hadlock.

A patrolling deputy saw the man speeding, heard his vehicle’s tires squealing and pulled him over.

The driver’s license was found to be suspended and he appeared intoxicated. He had red, watery eyes and slurred his words. Police saw two open cans of Icehouse beer inside the vehicle.

The man did poorly on a field sobriety test and his BAC was found to be .199.

He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and booked without incident.

At 6:46 a.m. Nov. 16, a 39-year-old Port Ludlow woman called police to report somebody in Florida was attempting to rent a vehicle using her personal information.

A call from a Florida Enterprise Rent-A-Car had alerted the woman to the attempt.

Police eventually ascertained the person trying to rent the car was the woman’s ex-husband and she was called because the insurance plan was in both their names.

It was determined no crime had been committed.

At 11:12 a.m. Nov. 17, police were called to a Nordland home where someone had apparently cut the lock off a shed.

It was not immediately apparent if anything had been taken.

A report was filed.

At 2:33 p.m. Nov. 17, police responded to a Port Hadlock home when a man called 911 to report his 16-year-old would not “shut up.”

Much yelling was overheard as he told the operator that “nobody will shut up” and insisted they get an officer on the scene, then complained it was taking too long, saying he would “handle it” himself.

When police arrived he told them his child was listening to him now.

It was determined no crime had been committed.

A report was filed.

At 7:43 a.m. Nov. 19, an alleged assault was reported in Quilcene.

A 33-year-old man told police he’d been changing the oil of a log loader when he was confronted by another man, 42, who accused him of breaking equipment.

He insisted he hadn’t broken anything and called the other man a “stupid idiot.”

The older man then pushed the other, knocking him down onto some machine parts.

When the younger man got up, the older man grabbed him and choked him.

The older man later told police he’d become angry when the younger man insulted and swore at him when he asked about the broken machinery.

A report was forwarded to the prosecutor.

At 1:57 p.m. Nov. 20, a Chimacum resident reported somebody had attempted to make a fraudulent payment with their credit card.

The would-be thief had tried to make an $11,000 payment to Wayfair, an American e-commerce company that sells furniture and home products.

The payment was stopped.

A report was filed.
